The Benzon Symposia are international conferences on front line research in medical, pharmaceutical, and related sciences funded by the Alfred Benzon Foundation.

The concept of the 63rd Benzon Symposium is to bring together the world’s leading scientists in protein engineering and its applications in modern medicine. The intention is to create an intense and interactive environment for both young and experienced scientists. A key purpose is to gather together leading scientists within the area of protein engineering, along with different related fields, ranging from protein design, to protein synthesis and modification, as well as therapeutic applications. We believe the symposium will improve our understanding of protein engineering in general and our ability to manipulate and target proteins under pathophysiological conditions in particular.

The Symposium is a full 4-day scientific meeting. The format will be a combination of state-of-the-art lectures by leading experts in the field, selected oral-poster presentations by young scientists, and poster presentations.

The titles of the sessions are:

Expanding the Genetic Code
Post-translational Modifications
Chemically Modified Proteins
Biomimetics & Bioactive Peptides
Protein Evolution and Engineering
Chemical Methods in Protein Synthesis
Protein structure & Design
Peptide and Protein Therapeutics

The venue will be Hotel Skt. Petri (http://sktpetri.com), beautifully located in the center of Copenhagen for the entire event. All participants will stay at Skt. Petri.
